What is Demand Management and Renewables?
As the issue of climate change is becoming discussed more heavily and gaining awareness, many nations around the globe are starting to announce their actions to combat the issue. At the COP26 summit it was agreed that for climate change there needed to be a recognition of the emergency, an acceleration in action, a move away from fossil fuels, a step up in support for adaptation and delivering on climate finance.
Therefore, the UK Government has set up a number of strategies that plan to pave a way in the green industrial revolution. This demonstrates the background to the framework, as the framework focuses on improving renewable energy through the use of solar and heat pumps with services also paying attention to carbon net zero consultancy and improving energy efficiency.

Framework Scope – Demand Management and Renewables (HELGA 2)
The DPS is to be utilised by Central Government Departments and all other UK Public Sector Bodies, including but not limited to:
- • Local Authorities
• Fire and Rescue
• Not for Profit
• Devolved Administrations
- • Local Authorities
In early 2020, three fifths of Private Sector workers were employed by SME businesses, yet SME businesses only make up approximately half of the Private Sector turnover. Geographically, in proportion to how many Private Sector businesses they have (in order), Northern Ireland, Scotland, East Midlands, and North West have the most SME businesses. Therefore, if SME businesses can take a disproportionate advantage from this DPS, those are the regions that would disproportionately benefit.
